A higher level of craftsmanship

THE AVID PIANO TECHNICIAN

Peter Acronico, RPT

The piano is simply my passion! With great dedication, I strive to achieve the highest level of craftsmanship and service.

I began studying the piano at the age of eight in Los Gatos with Miss. Brown and later Mrs. Ralph Condon. I went on to study privately with John Delavoryus, former Professor of Piano Studies at San Jose State University.

As a Bay Area native, I have family roots dating back seven generations. I attended Los Gatos High School (class of ’77) before enrolling at UC Santa Barbara as a World Literature Major.

In 2005, I passed all of my examinations offered by the Piano Technicians Guild at the highest level to become a Registered Piano Technician. Having worked on hundreds of different piano brands over the years, I have received specialized training at the Steinway factory in New York. I’ve attended factory training seminars at the Oberlin Music Conservatory in Ohio (sponsored by Steinway & Sons), as well as at Renner Academy in Arizona. Working for over ten years with local Steinway retailers preparing pianos, handling customer repair requests, and tuning for the Steinway Concert & Arts Division have helped me become a locally recognized piano technician.

I specialize in tuning, voicing, regulating and reconditioning or rebuilding fine and heirloom grand piano actions. I’m a Concert and University Technician, and am currently the head Piano Technician at Los Positas Community College. I maintain close to a dozen pianos in various concert venues throughout the Bay Area. As former Tennis Teaching Professional, I enjoy hiking and bicycle riding. I live in Willow Glen with mywife, Tracy.

Role of the Concert Piano Technician

Check out Peter’s inciteful blog post

Concert artists are some of the most intelligent, disciplined, and aware people we ever meet.

They are generally well-versed in current events, have read a swath of literature, including fiction, non-fiction and, of course, anything they can get their hands on concerning the composers whom they perform, as well as, to the life and times of the period. Some teachers require students to pen essays about the composers and pieces they play.

Certificates of achievements from Steinway and Sons, piano program training completion and certificate from The Piano Technicians Guild, Inc.
